Lincoln Land Community College will host its annual Sophomore Night on Wednesday, February 25, honoring student‑athletes from both the women's and men's basketball programs. The evening will feature special recognitions, live performances, and two home matchups as the Loggers close out their regular‑season schedule.
The event will begin with Piper Chase, a Vocal Music Major at LLCC singing the "Star Spangled Banner."
The women's team will take the court at 5:30 p.m. against conference rival Parkland College currently ranked #8 in the NJCAA polls. The sophomore will be recognized and honored prior to tipoff. Fans, families, and supporters will have the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of this year's sophomores.
Halftime will feature a special performance by the Lincoln Land Community College Jazz Band led by Professor Jason Waddell and is comprised of LLCC Music Majors, LLCC Non-Music Major students, and a Community Members section. They perform both on and off campus each semester. They will be performing a selection of 903s to include "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, "Smooth" by Santana, and "All Star" by Smashmouth. Â
Following the conclusion of the women's game, LLCC will announce the Fan Favorite Award winner selected through fan voting conducted at the last three home games.
The men's basketball team will follow with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against #14 nationally ranked Parkland College. Prior to the line-ups being announced the sophomores will again be honored before the start of the game, highlighting their leadership, dedication and impact within the program.
At the conclusion of the men's game, the recipient of the Fan Favorite Award for the men's program will be announced, also based on fan voting from the last three home contests.
Join the Celebration with two home games, live music, and special recognitions, Sophomore Night promises to be one of the most exciting events of the season. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, show their Logger pride, and help celebrate the student‑athletes who have represented LLCC with commitment and passion.
