Loggers Women’s Soccer Ready to Build on 2024 Success

The Lincoln Land Community College Women's Soccer team is set to begin the 2025 season after a historic 14-3 record last fall. The Loggers broke program marks for goals scored (58) and fewest goals allowed (13), posted 12 shutouts, hosted a regional playoff game for the first time, and advanced to the Region 24 Championship before falling in the final to national semifinalist Heartland Community College.

That growth has started to gain attention beyond the region, with LLCC appearing among the teams "Receiving Votes" in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Poll. While the recognition is appreciated, the focus remains on hard work and improvement.

The Loggers feature a roster with strong Central Illinois ties, with many players coming from nearby communities. Key returners include All-Conference defender Adi Fraase, who anchored last year's defense; All-Region midfielder Sophia Smith, a versatile playmaker; and All-Region goalkeeper Elle Walker, along with sophomore goalkeeper Abi Stephens, who also played a key role in recording the team's 12 shutouts. They are joined by a mix of experienced sophomores and a promising incoming class that adds depth and competition across the field.

Head Coach David Meyer, now in his fourth season, says the group understands that last year's success was built on daily commitment.
"We want to keep building step by step," Meyer said. "The players have set high standards for themselves, and the preseason poll is a nice sign that others are noticing. But we know our job is to focus on what we can control."

The Loggers open their preseason schedule with a trip to Monmouth College on Monday, August 20, before starting the regular season on the road Wednesday, August 27 at Triton College. The home opener follows on Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 PM against Kishwaukee College.

The 2025 schedule is packed with competitive matchups, including Parkland College, Heartland Community College, Kaskaskia College, John Wood Community College, Jefferson College (nationally ranked in 2024), Rock Valley College (a perennial national contender), Southeastern Iowa CC, Oakton College, and a late-season trip to Madison College, another postseason-caliber opponent.

Meyer says the community's support has been a big boost for the team, and they hope to see everyone at the games this season.
