Loggers Lose a Tough One at Home

Lincoln Land remained competitive until the end, but eventually fell to the Cougars of Illinois Central College 68-58.

Lincoln Land was able to put together their best full game in nearly a month. The Loggers held early leads in the contest, but found themselves down before a 6-0 LLCC run propelled them ahead with under 7:00 to play in the half. The Cougars were able to get back in front, but the Loggers stayed right in tow as the two teams remained within a possession of each other going in to the break. ICC led 32-29 at the half.

The two teams were tied at 36 at the under 16:00 media timeout before ICC rattled off a 10-1 run over the next 4:00 stretch to take a 9 point lead. The Loggers chipped away and were able to get within 4 before it went back to 7+, then down to 3, then eventually as close as 2 at 47-45. The Cougars however got the next three buckets and again found themselves back up a fairly comfortable margin. Lincoln Land would again cut the contest closer, just for ICC to respond with enough buckets to stay ahead. The final blows came after the Loggers got to as close as 60-55 with over 3:00 to play. From there the Loggers were unable to get enough points to catch up and ICC made enough free throws during the closing moments to pull away for good 68-58.

Nate Moore came off the bench for LLCC to lead all scorers on Saturday afternoon with 16 points. Josh Banks was the only other Logger to get to double digits ending with 10.

Lincoln Land falls to 3-20 on the season and 1-8 in MWAC play this season.

The Loggers have a week off before they head to Danville to take on Danville Area Community College next Saturday at 3.
