#16 Lincoln Land Split with #8 Heartland

G1 - Heartland

Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but the Loggers fell to Heartland Community College 10-7 at Normal on Saturday. Heartland Community College collected 15 hits, while the Loggers had 11. Andrew Hendrickson collected three hits in five at bats in the loss. Hendrickson hit a solo home run to left field in the fifth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning. The Loggers opened the scoring in the second after Chase Jetel doubled, scoring one run.

Heartland Community College flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs on eight hits to take a 7-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Kaden Griffitts that drove in two.

Hendrickson hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for the Loggers.

The Loggers scored five runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning. Jetel hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Andrew Randazzo doubled, scoring one run, Hendrickson doubled, scoring two runs, and Grant Pohlman doubled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth, Heartland Community College broke up the tie when Aidan McNamee doubled, scoring two runs. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 10-7.

Michael Vitellaro earned the win for Heartland Community College. The left-handed pitcher allowed three hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. Matt Miscik took the loss for the Loggers. The righty went one and one-third innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two. Mitch Dye stepped on the bump first for the Loggers. The right-handed pitcher allowed nine hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Nick Kolze stepped on the hill first for Heartland Community College. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and six runs (two earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.

The Loggers piled up 11 hits in the game. Wandel Campana and Hendrickson each collected three hits for the Loggers. Pohlman collected two hits for the Loggers in five at bats. Pohlman stole two bases. The Loggers stole three bases in the game.

Heartland Community College accumulated 15 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Max Hennemann, showed the depth of Heartland Community College's lineup, by leading them with three hits in five at bats. Griffitts, Corey Boyette, and McNamee each drove in two runs for Heartland Community College. Brady Davidson and Beau Polick each collected multiple hits for Heartland Community College. Heartland Community College turned two double plays in the game.

G2 - Heartland

Caleb Royer drove in five runs on one hit to lead the Loggers past Heartland Community College 9-0 on Saturday at Normal. In the first inning, Royer hit an inside the park grand slam. The Loggers added one run in the third after Wandel Campana doubled.

Jack Wajda earned the win for the Loggers. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. The Loggers tallied 10 hits in the game. Andrew Hendrickson led the Loggers with three hits in four at bats. Hunter Moser and Grant Pohlman each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Chase Jetel paced the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Moser stole two bases. Loggers stole six bases in the game.

The Loggers turned two double plays in the game. The Loggers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Andrew Randazzo had the most chances in the field with six. TJ Williams, Max Hennemann, Jesse Contreras, and Beau Polickey each collected one hit for Heartland Community College. Heartland Community College turned one double play in the game.
