Loggers Split with the Cobras

Game 1 - Parkland

Nolan McMasters hit two home runs and drove in three as the Loggers defeated Parkland College Cobras 11-6 on Saturday. McMasters homered in the first and seventh innings. Loggers came back to win despite trailing 6-2 in the fifth. The Loggers were the first to get on the board in the first when McMasters homered to left field, scoring two runs. Parkland College Cobras jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second when Ryan Snell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Will Flanigan doubled, scoring two runs. The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 8-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by McMasters that drove in two.

Three more Loggers runs crossed the plate in the ninth inning to extend the lead to 11-6. Payton Mugele hit a solo home run to right field, Ethan Hurst singled, scoring one run, and Andrew Randazzo was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Zane Danielson earned the win for the Loggers. He gave up three hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. Mitch Dye led things off on the bump for the Loggers. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and six runs over four and one-third innings, striking out six and walking eight. Will O'Gorman led things off on the hill for Parkland College Cobras. The lefty allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out five and walking five.

The Loggers amassed 11 hits in the game. Grant Pohlman went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Loggers in hits. Hurst collected two hits for the Loggers in four at bats. The Loggers had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Wandel Campana and Caleb Royer led the team with two walks each. Hurst stole two bases. The Loggers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating three stolen bases for the game. The Loggers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Pohlman had the most chances in the field with 19.

Tylor Phommachanhom and Flanigan each drove in two runs for Parkland College Cobras. Flanigan led Parkland College Cobras with three hits in five at bats. Parkland College Cobras had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Scott Newman and Phommachanhom led the team with three free passes each. Luke Parmentier stole two bases. Parkland College Cobras stole four bases in the game. Parkland College Cobras turned one double play in the game.

Game 2 vs Parkland

The Loggers had trouble keeping up with Parkland College Cobras in a 7-0 loss on Saturday. Parkland College Cobras got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Michael Carrano Jr. hit a sacrifice fly, and Parkland College Cobras scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Parkland College Cobras added one run in the second. Scott Newman doubled, making the score 3-0.

Parkland College Cobras added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Carrano Jr. singled, Josh Outlaw grounded out, and Charlie Marisca singled, each scoring one run. Sam Bryan earned the win for Parkland College Cobras. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking none. Jack Wajda took the loss for Loggers. He went five innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking none.

Austin Adcock and Caleb Royer each collected one hit for Loggers. Loggers turned one double play in the game. Parkland College Cobras accumulated nine hits in the game. Newman and Will Flanigan each collected two hits for Parkland College Cobras.

Carrano Jr. and Newman each drove in two runs for Parkland College Cobras. Parkland College Cobras were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Marisca had the most chances in the field with 11.
