Danville Area Community College - 73
Lincoln Land- 70
After trailing by double digits for over 30 minutes of the contest and late and fierce comeback by the Logger fell just short and the Jaguars of Danville Area Community College came away with the 73-70 victory.Â
The first half was fairly forgettable for LLCC as they started on the wrong end on a 7-0 run to start the game and found themselves down 10 only 6:30 into the contest. Scoring did not come easily as LLCC only shot 37% from the field and even though they got to the line for 12 free throws, they only converted on 6 of them for 50%. The Loggers trailed by as many as 17, but were able to get to back to down 13, going into break trailing 43-30.Â
The first 14:00 of the second half was played within around that 13 point deficit. When Danville got up to 16/17, the Loggers got back to within 11. This back and forth held for much of that time frame. With 6:00 to go the Logger finally got under the 10 point mark. Still with just over 4:00 to go, LLCC was still trailing by 9 and that was when the contest started getting tighter. Camren Kincaid got a tip in offensive rebound with 1:21 left to get Lincoln Land back to within one possession for the first time since the first minute of the game. After an offensive foul, the Loggers had the ball down that three points with :57 left, but did not get a basket and were left to foul the Jaguars on the next possession. After getting just one free throw Jermale Young knocked down a three with :12.9 left to get it to just 1 point. However, DACC converted both of the subsequent free throws to go back up 3. The Loggers were fouled and got two free throws of their own. Kincaid intentionally missed the second free throw to try to get the offensive rebound trailing by 2, but Danville secured the board, made two free throws to get back up 4 and that essentially sealed the game. The Loggers got fouled on a three pointer with :00.5 left, but missed the first attempt which left the game essentially over. One made and another intentional miss that was not secured got the game to the 73-70 final. Â
Nick Cook pushed the Logger scoring effort in the first half with 13 and ended with the second most points on the night with 16, following up his career high 17 last game out. Camren Kincaid took over the scoring in the second half putting in 15 and ending with the game high 17 at the end. Kyle Leonard got to 12 points by the final buzzer to be the third Logger in double digits.Â
Lincoln Land falls to 9-10 on the season. They have a week to prepare for the second time through region and conference play to end the year.Â
