Loggers Win at Home on Career Nights

Lincoln Land - 81
Carl Sandburg - 59

Career nights from Dane Foster and Nick Cook helped Lincoln Land breeze to an 81-58 victory Monday night.

The Carl Sandburg College Chargers traveled to Springfield to take on Lincoln Land in a non-conference men's basketball game on Monday evening. The night went south early for the Chargers. Carl Sandburg led once in the game at 5-2 just a couple of minutes into the contest. Lincoln Land got the next two buckets, took the lead, and never looked back. Although the Loggers led the rest of the way, in the first half Carl Sandburg stayed in touch for much of the early stages of the game. The one bit of life the Chargers showed was around halfway through that first half. The Loggers got up by a high at the time, 10 points before Carl Sandburg rattled off a 6-0 run to get within 4. The closing of the first half saw LLCC push their lead back to double digits and led by 12 before finishing the half ahead at the break, 38-28.

The second half was where the Loggers asserted their dominance starting with an 11-0 run that put the game all but away. The Chargers failed to get back within any closer than 15 and Lincoln Land pushed their advantage out as high as 24.

Although Foster went into half with 7, the second half was where he did the most of his scoring. Foster went 6/7 from the field and put in 14 of his career high in that second half. This is the fourth game in five that Foster has gotten to 10+ points. Foster's impact on the game was not solely scoring as he ended with a team high 7 rebounds and passed out 4 assists, one of three Loggers with at least 4 assists. Cook had a balanced scoring evening as he went into half with 9 and ended with a career high himself with 17 ending 7/8 from the field and 4/5 from the line while also pulling in 5 rebounds. Camren Kincaid, the Loggers' leading scorer on the season, tied Foster with a game high 21. Kincaid was perfect 8/8 from the floor on the night.

Lincoln Land bounces back from two losses to get back to .500 at 9-9. Lincoln Land also ended January's eight games with a .500 record of 4-4.

Lincoln Land hops back into MWAC play on Saturday when they head to Danville to take on Danville Area Community College.
