The Lincoln Land Women's soccer team kicked off the season at home today against Iowa Central Community College.
As both teams look to begin the season looking for a win, it was Iowa Central who came out on top today. The first half score remained tight with the Tritons getting a goal to go up 1-0 at the half. The Tritons overloaded the middle and played with high pressure, keeping possession on the Loggers side of the field for most of the first half. To start the second half, the Loggers looked to put an equalizer on the scoreboard by adjusting to the Tritons high defensive line. After some nice quality but unsuccessful attempts by the Loggers, the Tritons were able to go up 2-0 on a counter play and never looked back. The Loggers fall with a final score of 5-0 in favor of the Tritons.
After the game, Coach David Meyer had this to say, "We were expecting a quality game against Iowa Central, as they were making their debut at the NJCAA Division two level, after being Division one last season. The Iowa Central Coaches did a good job as both sides made in game adjustments. We will reflect from the loss today and try to bounce back on Saturday."
Next up the Loggers travel to Joliet for a 1pm game on Saturday.
