The Logger volleyball team traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa for the Iowa Central Community College Tourney. After two matches, although the Loggers didn't win, they battled hard and lost, respectively.
The Loggers lost in 4 to the host school, Iowa Central, after taking the first set 25-18.
Sophomore Emily Veach lead Lincoln Land with a Double Double, having 38 assists and 17 digs.
The Tritons fought back in sets 2 and 3 taking down the Loggers. The third set was extremely close ending with a score of 24-26. Bella Powell led a balanced offense with 13 kills, followed by Carly Michels, 10, Isabel Hudspeth, 9, and Josie Wolter, 8. Sophomore Rayahna Little Star Foutch made her college debut, starting as the Loggers Libero, allowing the offense to generate positively. Freshman Sydney McTaggart also started as defensive Specialist for the Loggers providing solid serve receive.
The Loggers then took on Bismarck State College. Bismarck State took the first two sets from the Loggers, then in the third set, the energy shifted. Freshman Olivia Torricelli came into game three, off the bench and made a huge impact for the Loggers with her defense.
The Loggers took set three 26-24 then set four 25-21 leading to the Loggers first five set match this season. Bismarck State took a 5-1 lead over the Loggers, forcing a time out. Answering back, Carly Michels went on a service run getting the Loggers to 5-7, forcing a Bismarck State time out.
After the switch, LLCC was down 10-5, Powell answered with a monster swing down the line to fight back, 6-11. Then, Middle Blocker Josie Wolter came up with a huge clutch block, followed by a kick save, resulting in a kill from Powell. The Loggers fell in the 5th set 14-16 respectively.
Foutch lead the Loggers in digs, 19. Veach with 11 digs and 47 assists notching another Double Double. Hudspeth & Powell both had Double Doubles. Powell had 18 kills and 15 digs, while Hudspeth had 14 kills and 12 digs.
The Loggers continue play tomorrow at 10:00 am vs Fort Scott and 11:45 am vs Central Nebraska.
