Volleyball sweeps on day two in Kansas City

The Logger Volleyball team bounced back Friday leaving Kansas City 2-0 on the day.
The Loggers swept Labette Community College at 11:00 am followed by another three-set sweep against Fort Scott Community College at 1:00 pm.
Carly Michels led the Loggers offense with 12 kills hitting a smooth .450% in the first match.
Sophomore Setter, Emily Veach conducted the Logger offense with 30 assists, averaging an impressive 10 assists per set. The Loggers finished the Labette match with 50 total digs as a team. Final scores in the Loggers sweep included 25-15, 25-20 & 25-21.
The Loggers followed up this performance by dominating Fort Scott Community College in a three-set shut out. Impressive service runs in the second set took place when Sophomore Outside Hitters Bella Powell and Isabel Hudspeth stepped back to the service line. Powell provided a powerful jolt, giving the Loggers a 6-0 start, including 3 ace serves. Hudspeth then followed up with a stellar service run of 15 points, including 3 service aces. The Loggers took over the second set from the service line, keeping the Fort Scott Hounds to only 6 points. Kierstyn Harmon distributed the Loggers offense, notching 28 assists. Final scores in the Loggers second sweep of the day included 25-16, 25-6 & 25-16.
The Loggers prepare for a Tri Match Monday Aug. 29 in Robinson, Illinois. Opponents including Frontier Community College (4:00 pm) & Lincoln Trail College (6:00 pm).
