Loggers split at North vs. South Tourney

Match 1 vs. McHenry


The Loggers traveled to Champaign for the weekend. The first match of the day was against McHenry County College resulting in a 0-3 loss. Sets include: 21-25, 24-26, 13-25. The Loggers started off with a 3-1 lead. Josie Wolter added an ace to push ahead 4-5. Sydney McTaggart entered the game for Bella Paqsuino. Emily Veach had a kill and Isabel Hudspeth added an ace early in the set. The Loggers took a timeout down 4 points, 14-10. Carly Michels and Bella Pasquino added two big kills. Josie Wolter had a four point service run, down 15-18. The Loggers continued to battle but lost the first set 21-25.

The second set started off point for point. Josie Wolter recorded two aces to give the Loggers a 7-5 lead. Macey Hynes subbed into the set for Josie Wolter, 7-6. The Loggers fell behind two points but a big kill by Pasquino and Michels brought the score to 18-18. Bella Pasquino tied up the game at 21 with a swing off the McHenry block. Josie Wolter added a kill and an ace to give the Loggers the lead, 23-22. Going point for point, the Loggers fell in the second set 24-26.

McHenry County started off the third set on a 5-0 run before The Loggers called a timeout. The Loggers were able to sideout with a kill by Carly Michels, 1-6. With an overpass from McHenry, Josie Wolter recorded a kill to bring the score to 4-11. The Loggers struggled to put down the ball and score points which resulted in a second timeout being taken by the Loggers at 7-17. Carly Michels added a kill at 10-23 before serving two aces but McHenry County battled to take the third set 25-13. The second match for the Loggers was against Sauk Valley Community College, resulting in a 3-0 sweep.Sets include: 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.

Match 2 vs. Sauk Valley


Kenna Bixby, Hannah Clayton, and Sydney McTaggart all started for the Loggers.The first set went point for point to start with a tie at 7. A kill by Josie Wolter gave the Loggers a one point lead. Carly Michels added to the Loggers score with a five point service run. Bella Powell added two service points before a Sauk Valley timeout, 15-9. A solo block and kill by Hannah Clayton pushed the Loggers to 18-10. The Loggers continued to push ahead and finished with a final score of 25-15.

The Loggers started off the second set down 2-6. A kill by Hannah Clayton gave the Loggers one more point before a timeout was taken at 3-9. Bella Powell added a kill and ace as the Loggers went on a three point service run. Sauk Valley was then forced to call a timeout as the Loggers brought the lead down to 4. Powell continued her service run with 6 points total. A Logger timeout was taken at 15-19. An overpass by Sauk Valley set Michels up perfectly for a big kill, changing the momentum for the Loggers. Hudspeth added a block and Clayton served an ace to tie the game at 21. Hannah Clayton finished with a six point service run. Isabel Hudspeth forced Sauk Valley to take their second timeout with the Loggers serving set point, 24-22. The Loggers took the second set, 25-22.

Bella Powell started serving for the Loggers in the third set, finishing with a 3-0 service run. Kenna Bixby set Carly Michels up with a one-hand set that resulted in a big kill to fire up the Loggers. Hudspeth then added an ace while on a three point service run. Josie Wolter added a solo block to give the Loggers a six point lead. The Loggers forced Sauk Valley to take a timeout, and the Loggers led 20-14. The Loggers finished the third set with a winning score of 25-15.

The Loggers will continue play tomorrow at 1:00pm vs. Carl Sandburg College and 3:00 pm vs. Moraine Valley Community College.
