Loggers Softball stole the lead late and defeated Illinois Central College 11-5 on Tuesday.  The game was tied at five with Loggers Softball batting in the bottom of the sixth when Kayla Settles doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Illinois Central College scored three runs in the first inning, but Loggers Softball still managed to pull out the victory.  The big inning for Illinois Central College came thanks to singles by Priscilla Peek and Alexis Finchum and  by Neely Rogers.

Illinois Central College got things moving in the first inning.  Peek drove in one when Peek singled.

Loggers Softball knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning.  An error scored one run for Loggers Softball.

After Illinois Central College scored one run in the top of the second, Loggers Softball answered with one of their own.  Illinois Central College scored when Sydney Jensen doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Loggers Softball then answered when Katie Schaake singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Alli Brumleve was credited with the victory for Loggers Softball. The righty allowed ten hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Hailey West took the loss for Illinois Central College. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out one.

 Rogers started the game for Illinois Central College. The bulldog surrendered five runs on ten hits over four and a third innings, walking zero

Loggers Softball launched one home run on the day. Makenna Byers went yard in the sixth inning.

Loggers Softball totaled 15 hits.  Schaake, Settles, Kennedy Fellers, Brumleve, and Sydney Shaeffer all managed multiple hits for Loggers Softball.  Schaake went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Loggers Softball in hits.  Loggers Softball didn't commit a single error in the field. Braylee Finck had  five chances in the field, the most on the team.

Illinois Central College tallied ten hits on the day.  Jensen, Sydnee Usherwood, and Peek each collected multiple hits for Illinois Central College.

Game 2

Tuesday's game against Illinois Central College was a heartbreaker for Loggers Softball, as they lost the lead late in a 7-5 defeat.  The game was tied at five with Illinois Central College batting in the top of the eighth when an error scored one run for Illinois Central College.

In the first inning, Illinois Central College got their offense started.  Hanna Evans singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Loggers Softball tied things up at five.

After Illinois Central College scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Loggers Softball answered with two of their own.  Illinois Central College scored when Sydnee Usherwood homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.  Loggers Softball then answered when Makenna Byers hit a solo homer and Kennedy Fellers hit a solo homer.

Evans was the winning pitcher for Illinois Central College. Evans went eight innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out 12.

Katie Schaake took the loss for Loggers Softball. The southpaw lasted eight innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Loggers Softball smacked three home runs on the day. Schaake had a homer in the third inning. Byers had a dinger in the sixth inning. Fellers went yard in the sixth inning.

Loggers Softball had seven hits in the game.  Rebecca Littrel and Byers all had multiple hits for Loggers Softball.  Byers and Littrel each collected two hits to lead Loggers Softball.

Illinois Central College saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game.  Alexis Finchum, Usherwood, and Evans all managed multiple hits for Illinois Central College.  Finchum led Illinois Central College with four hits in five at bats.  Illinois Central College was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Finchum had the most chances in the field with 12.
