Men's Basketball drops last home game

The Logger's were unable to keep pace with John Wood and fell 79-66 at home Wednesday evening.

Lincoln Land was able to hold a halftime lead of 33-27, thanks to sophomore Jordan Brooks pacing LLCC with 14 points, including 4 threes. Despite being outrebounded by 6 in the half, the Loggers benefitted from better shooting (45%-33%) and committed 3 less turnovers. One other reason for the Lincoln Land advantage was the Loggers were able to hold the starters of John Wood to only 17 points in the first half.

Once again, a scoring run by an opponent is what spelled disaster for the Loggers. John Wood quickly poured in an 8-2 run to tie the game early in the second half. The Blazers were able to secure a 38-35 advantage with 16:00 to go and although LLCC tied the game one more time, John Wood never trailed the rest of the way. Lincoln Land trailed by as high as 21 and were outscored by a total of 52-33 in the half. John Wood was able to flip the script by shooting a better percentage than the Loggers, continue to out-rebound them, and forced a +3 advantage in the turnover battle. The starting five also ended with 44, 27 in the second half.

Brooks led Lincoln Land along with freshmen Keon Jones who both ended with a game-high 19.  Jones grabbed a game high 10 rebounds to end with a double-double, high 10thof the year.  Sophomore Keon Day had one of his stronger showings of the year and ended with 12.

Lincoln Land falls to 4-25 on the year and 0-9 in the conference.  The close out the regular season in Champaign on Saturday against Parkland.
