Sunday gives softball two victories

GAME ONE - Lincoln Land Loggers Blows Out Spoon River
Lincoln Land Loggers cruised to an easy victory over Spoon River 9-1 on Sunday

Lincoln Land Loggers notched three runs in the fifth inning.  Lincoln Land Loggers batters contributing to the big inning included Katie Weller and Mackenzie Wagner, all driving in runs in the inning.

Jacey Nall earned the victory in the circle for Lincoln Land Loggers. She allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven. Ashlyn Towery took the loss for Spoon River. She surrendered five runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one.

Lincoln Land Loggers hit one home run on the day. Kari Sarhage had a long ball in the third inning.

Lincoln Land Loggers scattered ten hits in the game.  Sarhage, Brooke Webber, and Katelyn Turbyfill each racked up multiple hits for Lincoln Land Loggers.  Sarhage led Lincoln Land Loggers with three hits in three at bats.  Lincoln Land Loggers didn't commit a single error in the field. Madie Sims had the most chances in the field with seven.

GAME TWO - Big Second Inning Propels Lincoln Land Loggers Win Over Spoon River

Eight runs in the second inning led Lincoln Land Loggers past Spoon River 13-3 on Sunday. Lincoln Land Loggers's offense in the inning came from doubles by Hailey Patrick and Katie Weller, a triple by Brooke Webber, a home run by Mackenzie Wagner, and by Kari Sarhage.

Spoon River opened up scoring in the first inning.  Alexia Campbell drove in one when she doubled. Lincoln Land Loggers knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when Sarhage grounded out, scoring one run.

Lincoln Land Loggers pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Patrick doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs, Webber tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Weller doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Wagner homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Alyssa DeSpain was the winning pitcher for Lincoln Land Loggers. She allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one.

April Hoover took the loss for Spoon River. She allowed 14 hits and 13 runs over three innings, striking out one. Lincoln Land Loggers tallied one home run on the day. Wagner had a four bagger in the second inning.

Lincoln Land Loggers had 15 hits in the game.  Abigail Walters, Patrick, Webber, Katelyn Turbyfill, and Wagner each managed multiple hits for Lincoln Land Loggers.  Patrick and Walters each collected three hits to lead Lincoln Land Loggers.  Lincoln Land Loggers was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Turbyfill made the most plays with four.

Spoon River tallied six hits.  Campbell and Mackenzie Hedges each collected multiple hits for Spoon River.
