Men's basketball stumbles at home, drop game to Bryant and Stratton

The Lincoln Land men's basketball team fell at home to Bobcats of Bryant and Stratton College, 78-67.

Slow starts have doomed the Loggers in previous games this season, but Saturday afternoon Lincoln Land was able to break that mold. For the first 10:00 of the game, Lincoln Land was able to execute offensively and was able to get stops defensively and found themselves in the lead for the entirety of that first 10:00. Bryant and Stratton knocked in a three pointer at the 9:04 mark to take their first lead at 18-16. Unfortunately for LLCC that bucket was the first in a 15-0 run for the Bobcats. Lincoln Land did regroup and outscore Bryant and Stratton 17-7 and got back within 2 before going into the half trailing 37-33.

That four point deficit proved the closest LLCC would get the rest of the way. Bryant and Stratton was able to extend their lead all the way out to 12 in the half, but Lincoln Land was able to stay in the game and cut the lead back down to 6 as late as 2:30 left in the game. Lincoln Land could not get the one stop and score they needed to make the game tighter. The Bobcats added some free throws at the end of the game to extend their lead back out and walked away victorious 78-67.

Two major stats hurt the Loggers. The first was rebounding, which has remained a consistent issue for them, as they were out-rebounded 43-29. Despite that the Loggers found themselves down only 6, but had missed 10 free throws at that point. LLCC finished 11/21 for the game from the line, including missing the front end of two second half one-and-ones.

5359Every Logger who played was able to score led by Freshmen Keon Jones who ended with a game high 20 points. Sophomore Keon Day with 12 and sophomore Jordan Brooks with 11 were the only other Loggers to get to double digits. Freshmen Garik Hill led the Loggers with 10 rebounds.

Lincoln Land is now 2-8 on the season. They travel to Galesburg on Wednesday to take on Carl Sandburg before they return home for a three game stretch to end the semester.
