#2 Parkland defeats #13 LLCC 25-16, 25-15, 25-22
LLCC was defeated by Parkland in straight sets, 16-25, 15-25, 22-25 to take the Loggers' record to 5-4 before they head to Iowa on Friday to play four more ranked teams.   The Loggers trailed for all of the first two sets. In the first, nerves caught the Loggers out of the gate as two shanked passes and a net serve allowed Parkland to get to a quick 4-1 lead. LLCC kept it close for a while behind Erika Miller's kills, but then Parkland scored a series of kills to take a 17-13 lead up to 22-14.
In the second set, Parkland's blocking dominated the first half of the set at which point LLCC committed five unforced hitting errors as Parkland pulled out to a 20-11 lead and the eventual 25-15 win.
In the third set, the Loggers were able to build an early 5-1 lead on the hitting of Molly Tauke and Erika Miller before Parkland tied it at 8. The game went back and forth until it was 21-21 as the Loggers rallied behind kills from Kiley Brunstein, but after two errors, Parkland put the game and match away with a final kill.
"We're capable of some top level volleyball. The problem for us, just like it has been so far, is consistency," Coach Dietz said after the match. "When you play a team like Coffeyville, or in this case, Parkland, you have to maintain the mental focus throughout the match—five minutes of frustration can cost you a couple points and then you have to force things, be overly aggressive—that was a lot of our mistakes in the first sets. Still, we get a couple more things added to our list of things to work on for our next Region match. In the meantime, I'm hoping we'll see Jakya playing again soon."
