Loggers Split Day One

The Loggers split day one of their weekend set with the Blazers of John Wood Community College. Devin Smith (5-3) had another outstanding performance in game one for the Loggers. The sophomore pitched 7 innings featuring 7 strikeouts and only 2 earned runs. Bryan Jansen was brought in for the final 6 outs and kept the opposing lineup off the scoreboard to secure an 8-2 Logger victory. Talon File was the source of 3 RBI for the Loggers, including a long, towering 2 run homer. Andy Lopez was also able to get in on the fun with a frozen rope home run out of left field. Cole Greer and Noah Powless also chipped in an RBI apiece.

Game two didn't go as well for the Loggers, as they suffered a 7-3 loss. Ethan Klay (2-5) was dealt the short hand after going 3 1/3 giving up 6 earned. Klay was relieved by Jay Burton in the 4th. Andy Lopez finished the game 3-3 at the plate with 2 2B, but wasn't presented the opportunity to knock in any runs. Dalton Fletcher went 1-2, including a 2 RBI 2B. CJ Fleming also contributed an RBI.

The Loggers sit at 25-23 (13-13 MWAC) on the season. They continue their series this weekend against John Wood Community College. First pitch of game three will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Quincy.
