Baseball splits again with Lewis and Clark, walks off in Game 2

File got walk off single in Game 2
Game one of the day featured the Loggers blowing a late lead. Ethan Klay was perfect through 5 innings for Lincoln Land, using his defense and getting a lot of soft contact off the bats of Lewis & Clark. He suffered the loss after going 5 1/3 giving up 4, bringing his record to 1-3 on the year. Shayne McNally came in with an out in the top of the 6th and blew the lead for the Loggers. The righty gave up 3 runs facing just 4 hitters. McNally was relieved by Austin Troemper, who was able to get the Loggers out of the inning. Cade Sestak and Clay Bachman got 2 hits in the game, and the two accounted for 3 of the 4 Logger RBI's. Brendan Hostettler also tacked on 2 hits in the 9-4 game one loss.

In the night cap, the Loggers won in walk off fashion for the second time in the series. Talon File came up huge for the Loggers in game two, going 3-4 with 2 homeruns, 4 RBI and the walk off single in the bottom of the 8th inning for the 7-6 Logger win. The freshman also made several plays in the field, including a run saving, diving play in the 4th inning to keep the lead for the Loggers. Brendan Hostettler followed up a good showing in game one with a clutch 2-run bomb in game two. Jay Burton (2-0) got his second win of the series in relief, getting the Logger defense out of a tough jam and keeping Lewis & Clark silent in the 8th. The crafty lefty struck out one, and left the bases loaded in the top half of the 8th.

The Loggers end the weekend with a record of 10-17 (3-9 MWAC). Next up for the Loggers is a road game at Millikin University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
