Games 3 and 4 of the Lincoln Land, Parkland series both ended in defeat for the Loggers. Devin Smith (2-1) suffered the loss in game one, going 6 2/3 innings. He gave up 6 earned runs in the game, and struck out 4 Cobra hitters. The Loggers had a late lead thanks to a big 3-run 4th inning. Freshman Talon File gave the Loggers a 2 run lead in the inning with a 2 out, 2 RBI double to right center field to make it a 5-3 game. However, the Cobras rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 7th to escape with a 6-5 win.
Rick Dour (0-1) took the bump in game two for the Loggers. The righty pitched 5 innings, allowing 5 runs, 2 of them being earned. Dour was able to force a lot of soft contact from the Cobra hitters, but 4 errors made by the Logger defense helped Parkland score their 3 unearned runs. Dour was relieved by freshman Dominic Erlinger, who was able to keep Parkland scoreless over his 2 innings. Andy Lopez chipped in 2 hits in game two, while Chase Kuntzman and Cade Sestak both contributed an RBI apiece to make the final score a 5-2 loss for the Loggers.Â
Lincoln Land falls to 7-11 (0-4 MWAC) but gets back on the field on Wednesday, taking on Lakeland at 3 p.m. at Claude Kracik Field in Springfield.
