The offensive struggles were real for Lincoln Land today, as they tallied just 2 total runs in a doubleheader loss against Parkland Friday afternoon. In game one, the Loggers were only able to manage one hit and one run in a 9-1 loss. Austin Chapman (1-2) suffered the loss. Chapman went 4 innings and gave up 6 runs, with only 3 being earned. The only hit of the game for the Loggers came on a single up the middle in the 7th inning from Andy Lopez.
Game two saw Ethan Klay (1-1) providing another quality start, but coming up on the short end of a 5-1 loss. The freshman let just 5 runs cross the plate over 6 innings and struck out 6 batters. Dalton Fletcher, Andy Lopez, Chase Kuntzman and Cole Greer were able to get the Loggers in the hit column in game two, but the Loggers lone run came on an RBI groundout by Bryce Torricelli. Lincoln Land left 12 runners on base throughout the game, coming up empty handed in multiple crucial situations.Â
The Loggers play the second doubleheader of the series against Parkland on Sunday at Claude Kracik Field in Springfield starting at 1 p.m.
