Men's basketball falls to Danville Area

Lincoln Land Community College – 60
Danville Area Community College – 76

The Lincoln Land Loggers hung around better than their first match up with Danville Area Community College, but eventually fell 76-60 to the Jaguars.

Although Lincoln Land held in better than their previous match up, they never really threatened the Jaguars. Lincoln Land trailed by 4-10 points for most of the night, but could not get below that 4 point mark. Shooting was Lincoln Land's issue tonight as they struggled from the field and from behind the arc. Lincoln Land shot 35% from the field and 23% from three compared to Danville's 49% from the field and 25% from three. Lincoln Land improved on previous issue of rebounding and they were able to pull in an equal amount of boards. Lincoln Land actually was able to pull in 3 more offensive rebounds than Danville.

Lincoln Land had two Loggers in double digits, sophomores D'Aaron Owens and Trace Gentry. Owens and Gentry continued their hot streaks as they got 20 (Owens) and 15 (Gentry). Freshman DJ Doolin did have a game high 8 boards.

Tonight was four sophomore Loggers final game at LLCC.

Jerrid Cosby is from St. Louis, Missouri. Cosby has had one of the highest scoring outpoint by a Loggers this year with 20. He led the team in scoring for almost the entire first semester. Coach Jones when asked about Cosby said, "Jerrid does a ton of good for us. Down the stretch he has been our loudest leader and we wouldn't be where we are without Jerrid. His slashing and scoring will be missed."

Trace Gentry is from Roxana, Illinois. Gentry is a knock down shooter who has led Lincoln Land is three point makes and attempts the last two season. "Trace is one of the best pure shooters we have had at Lincoln Land. Trace can get off a shot from nearly anywhere, whenever he wants. When he is hot, he is easy to coach because he makes our offense look so much better. Trace may be the only player who would go 1-10 and continue to shoot and you expect to make it." –Coach Jones

D'Aaron Owens is from Centralia, Illinois. Owens currently leads the MWAC in conference scoring and has been key for Lincoln Land especially this year. "D'Aaron has been the heart and soul for our team for two years from two standpoints, he hardly comes off the floor, and he controls the entire game for us because he has been our point. He is going to be irreplaceable." –Coach Jones

Jacob Rueter is from Columbia, Illinois. Rueter had a disappointing year from the stand point of right before Christmas he tore his planter fascia and has just recently come back to play. "Jake is a coach's kid and it shows. He doesn't necessarily score as much, but he causes so many scores by the plays he makes. He is a leader, he is a smart player, and I would take a team full of Jake's if I could." –Coach Jones

Lincoln Land falls 11-15 on the season and 0-8 in the MWAC. Their last two games are both on the road Wednesday against Lincoln College, and Parkland College Saturday.
