The Loggers drop two to ICC in Region XIV matchup, 2-8 and 2-6 on Tuesday night.
The first game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when the wheels came off the wagon as the Cougars scored 7 runs on 7 hits, including a three run home run by Brook Gardner. The Loggers got on the board in the 5th inning, scoring two runs on 2 hits. Katie McLean led off the inning with a bunt base hit. She scored on a triple by Morgan Heckman. Katelyn Presley had a two out hit up the middle to score Heckman. The inning ended with three on when Lexy Koester lined out to center field. Â
"We just didn't get the hits (9 total) when we needed them," stated coach John Marsaglia. "Too many left on base (11 game one) and way too many strikeouts. We need to score more than two runs in order to win." Â
Brianna Graham was the losing pitcher in her 2.33 innings of work. Graham allowed 7 runs on 7 hits with 1 strikeout.  Brittany Roady relieved Graham in the 3rd inning. Roady allowed 1 unearned run on 6 hits and 2 strikeouts in her 3.33 innings of work.  Katelyn Presley and Morgan Heckman were the only Logger hittters with two hits each.
LLCC scored first in game two with two runs in the top of the third. Gracie Scweighart reach first on an infield hit followed by a hit from Katie McLean. Kelsie Allen then drove in both with a hit up the middle. The Cougars answered and scored one run in the bottom half on a two out homerun by lead off hitter Madisyn McCoy. The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the 4th inning on a solo home run by Cassie Shaw. Jordan Kraft (L) held the Cougars scoreless in the bottom of the 5th as she struck out two hitters. The Loggers were unable to score any runners in the top of the 6th as winning pitcher Paige Lane struck out the sides (Lane 12 Ks). Illinois Central had a big 6th inning scoring 4 runs four straight hits including a 2 run homer by Cassie Shaw.
The Loggers 27-21 will take on Lewis & Clark this Friday and Saturday.
