Lincoln Land lost to Santa Fe in a double header 3-2 and 9-8. The Loggers are now 3-7.
The Saints scored 1 run in the bottom of the first, but the Loggers answered by scoring 1 in the top of the second. LLCC took a short lived lead as they scored one run in the top of the 5th on a solo home run by Katie McLean. The Saints answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 5th with 2 outs to tie the score 2-2. Santa Fe scored the winning run in the bottom half of the 6th. In the 7th, LLCC pinch hitter, Megan Aubuchon lined out to the pitcher. Katie McLean grounded out to second followed by Kelsie Allen grounding out to third to end the game.
Jordan Kraft (1-1) received the loss. Kraft pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits with 1 strikeout and 1 walk. "Jordan threw very well and deserved to win," commented Coach John Marsaglia after the game. "We struggled at the plate and failed to produce the big hits at the right time."
In game 2 the Loggers came out ready to win. LLCC scored 3 runs in the first inning on back to back doubles by Katie McLean and Kelsie Allen, and followed with a 3 run homer from Ashton Dyche. Starting Logger pitcher Madison Routh held the Saints bats quiet for 4 straight innings before a big 8 run inning that produced a grand slam by Adrix Paradizo Ramos (Saints). Routh allowed 4 runs in her 4.3 innings of work and 5 runs were allowed by Brittany Roady, who relieved Routh.
Offensively the Loggers produced 12 hits. Katelyn Presley was 3 for 3 with a sacrifice. Katie McLean, Ashton Dyche, Morgan Heckman and Whitney David were 2 for 4. "We are playing great defense and for the most part we are swinging well. We just need to produce those key hits to manufacture wins."
The Loggers will end their Florida trip as they take on Pascal Hernando Community College at 2 pm (DH).
