Loggers Take Record to 15-2
Â
Tristan Weaver 4-0
The Lincoln Land baseball team resumed conference play on Friday as they hosted the Danville Area Community College Jaguars in a double header at Claude Kracik Field. The Loggers took both games, winning 10-3 and 7-2 to take a commanding lead in the four game set.
Â
LLCC scored six runs in the first three innings of 10-3 game one win. Nick Maton (2 for 3) hit a solo homerun in his first at bat to give the Loggers an early 1-0 lead. A four run second inning was highlighted by Sam Anderson's (1 for 4) RBI triple, Rick Dour's (2 for 5) RBI single, and Xavier Collier's run scoring double that scored two. Collier struck again in the three run sixth inning for the Loggers driving in his third and fourth runs on the day with a bases loaded single to left. First baseman Noah Powless (1 for 5) also homered in the game for his third homerun of the season.
Â
Logger lefty Tristan Weaver (4-0) earned the win for Lincoln Land. Weaver pitched eight strong innings, his only hiccup coming on a three run homerun to Jaguar left fielder Carson Davis in the top of the fourth. Tristan allowed just six total hits, walked one, and struck out 10.
Â
A six run first inning in game two would prove to be enough for the Loggers to win the nightcap 7-2. Danville starting pitcher Dylan Marble walked six in the frame and lead off man Rick Dour, batting for the second time in the inning, capped off the scoring with his single to center, bringing home two runs. The Loggers finished with only five total hits in the game, two apiece from Dour and Maton (RBI Double) , and the other from Powless.
Â
Devin Smith (5-0) went five innings for the win. Smith scattered three hits, walked two, and struck out four, allowing one unearned run. Sophmore Noah Kesselmayer, who threw a scoreless ninth inning in game one, earned the save with another perfect inning and a third.
Â
Lincoln Land is now 15-2 on the season and 5-1 in the MWAC conference. The series against Danville is scheduled to resume Sunday, in Danville at 1pm.
