Freshman Ashton Dyche
The Lady Loggers defeated the Mineral Area Cardinals 4-3 and 9-0 in a double header in Farmington, Missouri. The Cardinals scored 1 run in the bottom of the first inning and the Loggers tied the score in the top of the 6th on a double by Morgan Heckman followed by single and RBI by Ashton Dyche. The Cardinals answered with 1 run in the bottom of the half. Down 2-1, the Loggers scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th. Freshman Katelyn Presley led off the inning with a walk and was moved to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Kelsie Allen. Madison Routh singled to left field to drive in Presley to tie the game 2-2. Lexy Koester walked and with two runners on, Katie McLean doubled to left center to drive in both runners to take the lead 4-2. The Cardinals scored 1 run, but Bri Graham (2-2) held on to earn the win allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits, 1 walk and 2 Ks.
Katie McLean led the Loggers offensively in game one, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Morgan Heckman and Katelyn Presley were also 2-for-4.
Lincoln Land produced 9 runs on 11 hits to win easily behind a strong pitching performance by Jordan Kraft. Kraft (2-3) gave up 8 hits in her shut out win on 7 Ks and 1 walk. Ashton Dyche led the Logger offense going 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs. Heckman and McLean each had two hits in this game.
"I was really proud of the girls in a come back win in game one." Coach Marsaglia stated, "It is tough to travel 3 hours on a bus and play in cold weather, but today, they were ready to win."
LLCC will travel to Heartland on Saturday and back home on Sunday. The Loggers are 8-10 overall and 3-1 in the MWAC.
