Loggers men's basketball moves to 5-0

Lincoln Land – 58
Hannibal LaGrange – 46

The Loggers men's basketball team returned home Monday night after a short turnaround from Saturday's win and were able to defeat Hannibal LaGrange JV 58-46. Lincoln Land led for all, but one possession of the game, but never really put the game away as they led by a high of only 15. Effort was key for the Loggers tonight and it was lacking, which allowed Hannibal to hang around and take a brief lead in the closing moments of the first half. The Loggers did come out playing a little stronger, but were unable to distance themselves completely from Hannibal who cut their deficit to 8 with 3:30 to go. Lincoln Land did make enough plays to come out victorious, but it was not pretty.

"We came off one of the biggest wins in recent years and we followed it up tonight with an uninspired effort. We did not come ready to play and it showed, even in warmups. We cannot expect to win most nights if we give the effort we gave tonight. No game plan can help us if we don't come out ready to play and we have to be ready every single night." Reflected Head Coach Chad Jones following the game.

Lincoln Land was led in scoring by sophomore Jerrid Cosby who had a game high 17. Sophomores D'Aaron Owens, who had 11, and Trace Gentry, who had 10, were the only other Loggers in double digits. Cosby also pulled in a team high 6 rebounds. Freshman Jacob Rueter led the Loggers with 3 assists and steals.

Lincoln Land is 5-0 on the year. They head to Vincennes, Indiana Saturday to take on Vincennes University, the #4 ranked NJCAA D1 team.
