The Loggers defeated Lincoln College today in the Region XXIV Tournament 6-3. LLCC advanced to play Heartland College in the loser bracket and came up short, losing 2-1 and ending their season 31-20.
LLCC scored 2 runs in the first inning. Jessica Hunt drove in Courtney Reeves and Morgan Heckman who had reached on a fielder's choice and walk. Lincoln College came back and scored 3 runs, all unearned, in the top of the 2nd inning. Courtney Reeves drove in Megan Ballegeer on a sacrifice fly to center. The Loggers scored two more runs in the 3rd inning on base hit by Megan Ballegeer. Leading 5-3 Lincoln Land scored their final run in the 4th inning as Courtney Reeves drove in Anna Walschleger on a hit to the right side. Morgan Mansur (13-6) was the winning pitcher. Mansur gave up 5 hits and struck out 5 Lynx hitters. Taylen Balding went 3-for-4 to lead the Loggers offensively. Cindy Garces, Walschleger and Ballegeer each added two hits.
Game two against Heartland turned out to be all pitching. Jessica Weaver was the winning pitcher. Lincoln Land stranded 13 base runners and came up short. The Loggers out hit the Hawks 10-3. "Bri Graham threw and excellent game," stated coach John Marsaglia. Marcy Serrano hit a two out home run in the second inning to lead 2-0. "It was a pretty good pitch, but home runs happen." The Loggers answered in the bottom of the second scoring one run on a RBI single by Taylen Balding. Balding was 2-for-4 in the eliminating loss. Cindy Garces was 3-for-4 and lead all hitters. Anna Walschleger was also 2-for-4.
