The NJCAA Region 24 Tournament, hosted at Lincoln Land Community College, kicked off on Thursday at Claude Kracik field.  The third seeded Loggers squared off against the sixth seeded John Wood Community College Blazers.

After a clean first inning by starting pitchers Chris Robinson (LLCC) and Ian Cassidy (JWCC), Lincoln Land scored nine runs by sending 13 batters to the plate in the second inning. Logger first baseman Ben Hecht opened the inning with a solo homerun to center to give his team a 1-0 lead.  Xavier Collier walked and scored on Micheal Ryan's RBI single for the Logger's second run.  The bases would then be loaded on Peyton Minder's single and Tyler Borski hit by pitch, setting the stage for Tyler Ring's bases clearing double giving the Loggers a  5-0 lead. Hecht (RBI 1b), Jake Morsch (RBI 2b), and Collier had three consecutive hits to cap the inning.

John Wood would try to chip away at the nine run deficit with a run in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth, but the Logger offense stayed persistent. The Loggers tallied three more runs in their half of the fourth when Minder belted a bases loaded double that brought in all three runners. Lincoln Land shortened the nine inning game by the ten run rule when Jake Morsch singled in the tenth run needed in the bottom half of the fifth to end the game, 13-3.

Robinson (6-3) earned the win for the Loggers by throwing all five innings.  He allowed three runs (2 earned) on six hits, two walks, and struck out four. Ring, Hecht, Morsch, and Minder all finished with two hits apiece and multiple runs batted in.

Lincoln Land will move on to play second seeded Heartland Community College tomorrow at 3:00.
