The Lady Loggers split with Spoon River, losing game one 6-2 and winning game two 5-3.
The Snappers scored 4 runs in the first inning on two hits, a lead off walk and two errors. Jordan Kraft gave up 6 runs on 10 hits while striking out 7 Spoon River hitters. Kraft, 3-5, then retired the next 6 hitters in succesion. The Loggers scored their first run in the 3rd inning. Madison Ohnesorge reached 1st on a hit up the midddle and moved to 2nd on a throwing error by the shortstop. Courtney Reeves drove in Ohnesorge on a hard hit down the line, but was thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch the hit into a double.
The Snappers scored one run in both the 5th and 6th innings. LLCC scored in the 6th as Megan Ballegeer double to right center, driving in Lauren Ohnesorge who reached on a single to right. "Jordan Kraft had a rough first inning but settled down and threw very well from that point on. We made too many mistakes defensively and with our baserunning." LLCC had only 7 hits in game one. Coach Marsaglia stated, "We have to continue to improve our hitting and produce the big inning." Megan Ballegeer was the only multiple hitter going 2-for-2 with a double and RBI.
The Loggers came back in game two, scoring 5 runs on 9 hits. The Snappers scored one run in the 2nd inning and the Loggers answered with one run in the 3rd inning. Courtney Reeves sacrifice fly drove in Kelsie Allen who reached on bunt base hit. LLCC broke the tie in the 7th inning, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. Cindy Garces and Courtney Reeves collected big hits. Reeves was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and 2 RBIs. Kelsie Allen was 2-for-3 in game two.
Mogan Mansur (7-2) picked up the win. Mansur allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 4ks. LLCC will match up again with Spoon Rivver tomorrow at 2 pm in Springfield.
