Bri Graham threw a 2 hit shutout in game one. "Bri kept ahead in the count and moved the ball around very well," commented coach John Marsaglia. The Loggers had a big first inning as they posted 6 runs on 6 hits. Taylen Balding and Lauren Ohnesorge had two hits each.
The Jaguars took a quick lead scoring two runs in the first inning. LLCC answered by scoring one in the bottom half. DACC scored 5 more runs in the 2nd inning to lead 7-1. The Loggers never gave up and nibbled away at the lead to tie the score 7-7 at the end of four innings. Jordan Kraft (W) relieved starter Morgan Mansur and held Jaguar bats at bay until the 6th as DACC hit their third home run of the game to take the lead 9-7. "Jordan did her job, she kept them from scoring big in order to let the offense the opportunity to win it wit runs, and that is exactly what she did."Â
The Loggers scored one run in the 6th. Down by 1 run in the 7th, Courthney Reeves led off the inning with a hit, followed by a hit from Morgan Heckman. Cindy Garces bunted the runners over to 2nd and 3rd. Lauren Ohnesorge had an infield hit to load the bases. Freshman Kelsie Allen hit a soft liner to left to score Reeves and to tie the gamee 9-9. Miranda Esperum drove in the winning run as she collected her 4th hit of the game. "Miranda has been very hot at the plate the last two weeks," commented coach Marsaglia. Esperum went 5-for-7 today with 3 RBIs.
"I was very proud of the girls today. They never gave up and kept swinging their bats. We made great contact today, despite leaving 15 runners on base in game two. Anytime you post 19 hits in a game you should win."
Hanna Shephard, Kaylee McFadden and Shaileen Johnson each homered for DACC in game two. Morgan Heckman (3-for-5, 1 RBI) also homered for the Loggers. Anna Walschleger, Taylen Balding, Maddison Ohnesorge, Lauren Ohnesorge and Kelsie Allen each had two hits.
