Lincoln Land hosted the Cougars of ICC in a single game, losing 11-2 in 6 innings. The Cougars scored first, but the Loggers answered and trailed the Cougars 3-2 at the end of the 5th inning. The Cougars extended their lead to 7-2 on a grand slam homer by Abby Jaques. Cassie Shaw earned the victory but Allison Haesley relieved in the 4th and shut down the Logger offense. "This is a tough hitting line up for ICC," said coach Marsaglia. "We just couldn't shut down their offense." The Cougars had 11 runs on 11 hits that included 3 home runs.
The Loggers used three pitchers to try to stop the offensive production of ICC. Morgan Mansur relieved starter Jordan Kraft (L), followed by Bri Graham. "We struggled with locating pitches and got behind in the count. Our pitchers were trying to be too fine with their pitches and we put people on base with walks. That usually translates into more runs scored." LLCC could only muster 4 hits off the the Cougars.
LLCC will travel to East Central Missouri on Wednesday and then a four game series with Danville on Thursday/Friday to end the regular season. The Loggers are scheduled to play at home on Friday, April 29th at 2:00 pm.
