Jessica Hunt, 5-8, HR
Lincoln Land collected 26 hits in the double header in Godfrey, Illinois against the Blazers of Lewis & Clark to win 11-6 and 7-4. The Loggers led 4-1, but Blazers never gave up as they tied the game at 6-6 at the end of the 7th inning. LLCC scored 5 runs in the 8th to take the lead 11-6.
Courtney Reeves (3-for-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBIs) led the Loggers offensively today. "I have never seen a home run hit as far as Courtney's blast to center field," said coach John Marsaglia, referring to her towering homer to straight center. "There are trees that line the outfield that make the fence look closer than it is. The ball just jumped off of her bat and then it hit in the top of the trees in center with a loud 'thud' as it hit the tree." Morgan Heckman also had a great game offensively as she went 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Jessica Hunt and Miranda Esperum were both 2-for-4 in the win.
Starting pitcher Bri Graham earned the win in relief. Graham was relieved by Morgan Mansur in the 6th inning. "Morgan did a good job in the 6th but she was struggling with her location." Graham returned to the mound in the 7th with the score 6-4 Loggers, and got two quick outs. The Blazers scored two runs on a triple to right center to tie the game 6-6. Graham allowed 4 runs (3 earned) and scattered 10 hits.
Anna Walschleger led the Loggers offensively going 4-for-4. Jessica Hunt went 3-for-4 with 2 run homer and 3 RBIs. Courtney Reeves was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. "Hunt, Reeves and Esperum have had a hot bat lately," stated coach Marsaglia. "I really like the way we are swinging the bats."
Jordan Kraft was the winning pitcher. Kraft gave up 4 runs (2 earned) on 10 hits and 3 Ks. "The Blazers are a scrappy and quick team, they know how to get on base."
LLCC will host the Blazers tomorrow at 1 pm. LLCC is now 23-17 overall and 14-8 in the MWAC.
