Lincoln Land (29-15) hosted Vincennes University in a double header at Claude Kracik field on Saturday afternoon, winning both games to sweep the three game series.
Â
The Loggers scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning and added two more in the bottom of the fourth to win 5-0 in game one. First baseman Ben Hecht (2 for 3) led the rally in the second with a lead off double. Jake Morsch (1 for 3) followed with an RBI triple and he would score on Xavier Collier's double. Collier (1 for 3) would then steal third base and score on Peyton Minder's sacrifice fly to left field. In the fourth, Matt Sekardi (1 for 2) drove in Ben Hecht with an RBI single and Sam Anderson drove in Xavier Collier on a ground out to first base to cap the Loggers scoring.

Ryan Arnold, 6-2 W/L
Ryan Arnold (6-2) picked up the win with five solid innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed only two hits, walked none, and struck out six. Reliever Clay Shourd shut the door pitching the last two innings to complete the shutout, the Loggers second shutout in as many games.
Â
In game two, Lincoln Land took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Hecht (2 for 3) drove in Conor White (1 for 4) with his RBI single. The lead held until the top of the third, when the Trail Blazers finally broke their eighteen inning scoreless streak to tie the game at one. Loggers starting pitcher Chris Robinson hit lead off man Justin Kirkpatrick to start the inning. Kirkpatrick stole second, advanced to third on a ground out, and scored on Cade Luker sacrifice fly. Vincennes took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth when Levi Archer (2 for 3) drove in Mason Bruce with an RBI double to left field.
Â
Logger second baseman Xavier Collier (2 for 3) tied the game at two with his clutch two out, base loaded line drive single off the glove of a diving Brett Yeryar at second base, that scored Tyler Ring (1 for 3). The bases remained loaded for catcher Michael Ryan who was hit by a pitch, allowing Ben Hecht (2 for 3) to score the go ahead run. That run would turn out to be the winning run as the Loggers went on to win the game 3-2.
Â
Robinson (4-3) would get the win, pitching five complete innings, allowing the only two Trail Blazer runs on five hits and one walk. Freshman pitchers Chad Weller and Logan Reardon finished it out for the Loggers on the mound. Weller threw a clean sixth inning to hold the Logger lead and Reardon closed it out in the seventh for his fourth save of the season.
Â
Coach Riggle commented after the game, "That was a great weekend of baseball for us. Our pitching was the best it's been all year, only allowing two runs in twenty-three innings of baseball. We only committed one error on the weekend, and we got some timely hitting from our offense. We believe we have a team that can compete for regional title and get back to the National Championship tournament, and if we can play like we did this weekend, I like our chances."
Â
Lincoln Land will return to action next weekend as they return to conference play against Illinois Central College.Â
