The Lincoln Land Community College (27-15) baseball team beat the Trail Blazers from Vincennes University (IN) on Friday night, winning 1-0 in the nine inning contest.
Â
Logger's starter Ben Hecht (7-1) needed only one run of support as he dominated the Trail Blazer lineup on his way to picking up his team leading seventh win of the season. Hecht worked eight solid innings. Only five base runners reached safely as Hecht struck out thirteen. Konner Aherin pitched the ninth inning to earn his first save of the year, striking out two batters and allowing two singles.Â
Â
Lincoln Land scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning as left fielder Tyler Borski led the inning off with a double. After a Tyler Ring strikeout and a Conor White fly out, Hecht drove in Borski with a two out single up the middle. The Loggers remained scoreless the rest of the game, though they threatened several times. The Loggers
Ben Hecht
stranded ten runners on base.
Â
"That's was a good win against a good team," coach Riggle said after the game. "Hecht was the best he's been in his time with us at LLCC, and catcher Jake Morsch was solid behind the plate to support Ben's outing...Would have liked us to execute more on the offensive side, but we will make adjustments and try to take two tomorrow."

Lincoln will play a double header at home tomorrow against Vincennes to finish the three game series. Game time is 1:00pm.
