The Lincoln Land baseball team swept the Jaguars from Danville Community College on Saturday, extending their winning streak to five games and are now 25-14 on the season.

Logger starter Ben Hecht (6-1) went the distance in game one, throwing all nine innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, two walks, and struck out eight. Hecht settled in after allowing Danville to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Jaguar lead off man Patrick Norris led the game off with a single to left. Norris advanced to third on errant pickoff throw by Hecht and would score on Matt Wolf's ground out to second.
Â
Lincoln Land immediately answered with two runs in the bottom half of the first. Tyler Borski singles to start the inning and he would score on Conor White's (2 for 5) ground out to second. Ben Hecht (2 for 4) singled and scored on Jake Morsch's (2 for 4) double, giving the Loggers a 2-1 lead. Lincoln Land added single insurance runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take control of the game, highlighted by another Jake Morsch RBI double.
Â
Danville rallied in the top of the ninth, scoring their second run of the game, but it was to little to late and the Loggers won 5-2.
Â
Jake Morsch continued to swing a hot bat in game two, hitting a clutch two out, base loaded double to clear the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning giving the Loggers a comfortable 5-1 lead. That was all Logger starter Ryan Arnold (5-2) needed as he cruised to pick up his fifth win of the season. Arnold threw all seven innings, allowing only one earned run on 4 hits and two walks. He finished with six strike outs on the day.
Â
"We got two great pitching performances today from Hecht and Arnold and we played solidly behind them," coach Riggle said after the games at Claude Kracik field. " We need to keep rolling, we have some tough games ahead of us down the stretch, and our goal is to be playing our best baseball at we approach the end of the season."
Â
The Loggers travel to Danville tomorrow to finish the four game conference series. The double header will start at 1pm.
