Loggers Sweep RMU-Peoria 11-3 and 13-0

Loggers Sweep RMU-Peoria, Win 11-3 and 13-0 The Lincoln Land Loggers (24-13) baseball team hosted Robert Morris University of Peoria on Wednesday afternoon in a double header at Claude Kracik Field. The Loggers cruised to two easy wins, winning game one 11-3 and taking the night cap with a 13-0 victory. Robert Morris took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when RMU third baseman Tim Finney hit a two out, bases loaded RBI single. The Loggers quickly tied the game at one in their half of the first when Tyler Ring (1 for 2) drove in Sam Anderson (1 for 2) with an RBI ground out. The game remained tied until the Loggers erupted with 4 runs in the third inning and 3 more in the fourth. Conor White and Ben Hecht led the charge, both of them going 3 for 4 with three runs batted in. White had three singles, Hecht was a homerun shy of the cycle, and Jake Morsch also added an RBI triple. Clay Shourd (2-1) picked up the game won victory hurling two scoreless innings in relief, allowing no hits and striking out three. An eleven run third inning sealed the sweep for the Loggers in game two, winning by a total of 13-0 in five innings. Lincoln Land pounded eleven hits in the game, seven which were for extra bases. Sophmore first baseman Jake Morsch led the way going 3 for 3 with two triples, a double, and five RBIs. Peyton Minder was 2 for 2 with a double and two runs batted in, and Sam Anderson added a RBI triple. Logger southpaw Matt Tomazzoli (2-3) earned the win for LLCC with two scoreless innings, allowing only 1 hit, no walks, and struck out two. The Loggers return to action this Saturday, April 16th when they will host Danville Community College in a conference double header. Game one is scheduled to start at 1pm.
