
The Lincoln Land baseball Loggers(12-9) picked up two wins on Wednesday, winning 18-3 and 16-0 in a non-conference doubler header against the Trojans from Hannibal LaGrange University.
The Logger offense exploded for 34 runs in the two games and combined for a total of 27 hits. Lincoln Land catcher and first baseman, Jake Morsch led the surge, going 6 for 7 on the day with 6 runs batted in, and by belting his first home run of the year, a 3-run shot in the 3rd inning of game two. Ben Hecht was also credited with 6 RBI's, driving in 5 runs in game one, including a 2 on blast in the 4th inning for his team leading 4th home run of the season. Conor White joined in on the hit parade going 5 for 7 on the day, all singles.
Freshman Matt Sekardi had an outstanding day by earning his first collegiate win on the mound in game one, surrendering only 1 run on 2 hits in 3 solid innings of work. Sekardi, who hit for himself in game one and played right field in game two, went 3 for 4 with 6 RBI's on the day. He belted 3 doubles, including a bases loaded shot to the clear the bases in the bottom of the 2nd inning of game two.
In game two, Tyler O'Shea, Zeke Rowe, Chad Weller , and Chris Robinson all combined to throw a 3 hit shutout. O'Shea was credited with the win in the shortened 5 inning game.
Coach Ron Riggle quickly commented after the games by saying, "We as a team played all around good baseball today, obviously swung the bats very well, and we will look to carry the momentum into our conference games this coming weekend."
