Lincoln Loggers defeated Lincoln College 9-0 and 3-1 in a double-header in Lincoln, Illinois today in the Loggers first set of conference games.  The Loggers scored 7 of their 9 runs in the third inning.   The Loggers produced 7 runs on 7 hits and the big blow came on a grandslam homerun by freshman Morgan Heckman.  Cindy Garces (3 for 3) and Anna Walschleger (3 for 4) led the Loggers with three hits each.  Morgan Mansur (4-2) picked up the win throwing 5 innings of shutout ball with 4 Ks.  Lincoln College only had 1 hit.  Darcie Hawkins was the losing pitcher for Lincoln College.


The Loggers won game two 3-1 on 8 hits.  Anna Walschleger led all hitters with 3 hits.  Walschleger was 6 for 8 on the day.  Jordan Kraft went the distance allowing 1 run (0 earned) on 4 hits while striking out 6 Lynx batters.   "I was pleased with our pitching today.  The girls were hitting their spots and moving the ball around," stated coach Marsaglia after the game.  "We are starting to swing like we can.  I tell the girls that it takes 10 plus hits a game to give yourself a chance to win."

The Loggers will return home tomorrow to play the last two games of a four game set with Lincoln College.  Game times tomorrow, 1 and 3 pm.
