Lincoln Land out hit South Florida State College 10-8, but after a few fielding miscues, and a couple tough breaks, the Loggers (4-7) dropped their 4th straight game.
The Loggers struck first, scoring the games first run in the top of the 1st when Tyler Ring (2-for-4) drove in Tyler Borski on a sacrifice fly to left field. South Florida answered quickly as they scored four runs in the bottom half and two more in the 2nd inning off Lincoln Land freshman starter Logan Rearden. The right hander settled down with the score 6-1, and held the Panthers scoreless over his next 3 innings of work. He finished his day with 5 complete innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits, 5 walks, and struck out 7.
The Loggers began to battle their way back by adding a run in the 4th inning when Conor White scored on a Panther fielding error. They tacked on another run when Michael Ryan (2-for-3) led off the top of the 5th with a double down the left field line. Matt Sekardi (3-for-4) singled Ryan to third and he eventually would score on Zeke Rowe's rbi ground out to second base. Lincoln Land would go on to tie the game at 6 by adding three runs in the top of the 6th, attributed to a Conor White (2-for-5) RBI triple, a Jake Morsch sac fly, and an RBI single from Sekardi.
The Panthers answered quickly in the bottom half of the 6th with two runs off reliever Matt Tomazzoli (1-3) to take an 8-6 lead. Ben Hecht would get the Loggers back to within one with a solo home run in the top of the 8th. South Florida would tack on two more insurance runs in their half of the 8th inning before closer Harrison McClure closed it out in the ninth for the 10-7 victory.
Loggers with play a doubler header against Herkimer College tomorrow at 4:00.
