Truman College - 48
Â
The Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team played their second game of the Harry S. Truman College Tip-Off Classic against host Truman College and came away with a 41 point victory.
Â
Caleb Socha 13 points
Lincoln Land started their first possession with a three point basket by sophomore Alex Portwood and that was the closest the Falcons of Truman College would be the entire game. The Loggers put the game away early as they ran out to a 27-4 lead and led 44-21 at half. Lincoln Land held a lead of as many as 45 on their way to victory.Â
Â
"This was a good game for the team as a whole. We got balanced minutes for our guys and it allowed some of the freshman to get some minutes that allowed them to get comfortable playing. They have to be ready come Wednesday when we take on Rend Lake and tonight helped get us there," stated Head Coach Chad Jones following the win.Â
Â
The Loggers saw all but one Logger score and all but one Logger played at least 10 minutes. Freshman Caleb Socha led the way for Lincoln Land putting in 13 points while also pulling down 7 rebounds and 3 steals, all game highs. Â Sophomore Alex Portwood added 11 and Jacob Knox put in 10 to round out the Loggers in double digits. Lincoln Land was able to cut down on their turnovers from the night before committing 13 less, but did not shoot the ball nearly as well.Â
Â
Lincoln Land improves to 2-0 on the season, but will have little time to rest as they head to Ina, IL Wednesday to take on Region 24 foe Rend Lake.Â
