Lincoln Land came off Thanksgiving break by taking on Illinois Wesleyan's JV at home in Cass Gymnasium and came away with the victory, 73-54.

Illinois Wesleyan came out playing with some fire and took an 8-0 lead and held that lead all the way until a three by freshman Trace Gentry with 8:00 to go in half put the Loggers up for the first time at 23-22. From there on, the Loggers held the lead. The Loggers held that advantage to  30-24 at the break. Three players, sophomore Sam Kaufman (7), freshman Caleb Socha (6), and freshman Alex Kramer (6) carried the Loggers into the half with their scoring.

The Loggers came out and pushed up their defensive pressure early in the second half and began to slowly build on their advantage. Sophomore Alex Portwood, the Loggers leading scorer, was held without a bucket in the first half and luckily found his groove and ended with 11points. Freshman D'Aaron Owens was a spark off the bench and also chipped in with a co-team high of 11. Freshmen Caleb Socha and Alex Kramer ended with career highs of 11 and 10 points respectively.

"Illinois Wesleyan always plays really good basketball and we are always nervous of this game and tonight was no different. It took us a little too long  to get going tonight and we did not shoot the ball exceptionally well, but luckily did what we needed to come out victorious," stated Head Coach Chad Jones following the win at home.

Lincoln Land improves to 6-2 on the season. They head back out on the road to take on Lindenwood Belleville's JV Saturday afternoon.
