#5 LLCC was in action tonight at Cass Gym against a ranked opponent, #12 Sauk Valley in a close match swept by the home Loggers who ran their record to 22-6 on the season.  In the first game, the two teams alternated points until 10-10 when a Bree Cunningham ace finally gave LLCC a two-point lead.  LLCC stretched it to five on kills by Talesha Scott at 18-13, but two kills by Sauk and two LLCC errors saw Sauk turn the tables for a 22-21 lead before LLCC finally tied it at 24 and eventually pulled out the 27-25 win. 
 
In the second game, the two teams swapped points until 13-13 when Cunningham tallied another ace, followed by kills from Kiersten Anderson and Talesha Scott though three hitting errors by the Loggers saw the set tie back up at 16.  With Kaylee Beekman serving, LLCC scored five straight points, building a lead they did not relinquish, 25-20.
 

Lincoln Land led early in the third set behind Scott's hitting, 10-6, but Sauk Valley hitting saw the game come to a 11-11 tie.  Kiersten Anderson then picked up a block and kill followed by two assists to Talesha Scott which led to a six point advantage.  LLCC eventually won 25-18.

"It was a good match for us.  We were off from competition for a couple weeks, so we had to shake off some rust.  I really appreciated our passing," Coach Dietz said.  "Izzy, Kendall, and Kaylee Beekman just locked it down all night and it's hard to beat a team that's playing superb serve-receive."
