The Loggers defeated Lewis & Clark 7-4 and ICC 2-1 in 8 innings to advance in Region XXIV at Mattoon, Illinois. LLCC will face the winner of ICC and Heartland at 1 pm tomorrow.
Courtney Reeves was 3-for-4 to lead the Loggers in game one. Sadie Mosher (2-for-3) and Taylen Balding (1-for-3) homered with 2 RBIs each. Alex Ham went 2-for-3, 2 RBIs to help the Loggers offensively. Sadie Mosher(14-5) was the winning pitcher. Mosher went 5 2/3rds innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 5 strikeouts. Sophomore Lindsay relieved Mosher and picked up her 2 save of the year.
The Loggers "pressed on" in game two. ICC took the lead 1-0 and the Loggers responded to tie the game 1-1 in the 6th on a double by Sadie Mosher, driving in Anna Walschleger (3-for-3). Anna Walshleger led off the 8th inning with an infield hit. Alex Hamm sacrificed Walschleger to second. Sadie Mosher popped up to 2nd base for out number two. Courtney Reeves walked and Rachel Hastings reached first on a throwing error to allow Walschleger to score the winning run.
Hayley Long, 18-3, was the winning pitcher. Long scattered 6 hits and struck out 7 in the win.
