MBB Falls to Rend Lake 82-74

Rend Lake Warriors – 82
LLCC – 74

The Loggers knew they would be in for a tough game and Rend Lake gave them just that. Lincoln Land came up short 82-74.

The Loggers played well early on and held a lead of as much as 10 in the first half. Rend Lake cut into that and cut the lead to 5 at half, 43-38. Rend Lake came out in the second half and took control early. In the first 6:00 of the second half Rend Lake went on a 16-3 run and built up a lead a few minutes later of as many as 11. Lincoln Land slowly chipped away and with just over a minute left cut the lead to 4 and had the ball. The Loggers missed two shots on the possession and had to foul to extend the game. The Warriors added four free throws over the next two possessions to push the final to 82-74. The major issue for Lincoln Land was the Loggers gave up 23 offensive rebounds while only pulling in 23 defensive and committed 3 more turnovers.

"This is one of the best teams in our region and we were able to play with them, that is encouraging. We did not shoot well, did not play very smart, and gave up way too many offensive rebounds to win. They were a great team, but we hurt ourselves tonight. We have to clean up our errors and I have no doubt we can put ourselves in a position to win," head coach Chad Jones following the game.

Lincoln Land was led by sophomore Eddie Longmeyer who had teams highs in points (28), rebounds (7), and assists (7). Freshmen Harold Robertson added 11 and Alex Portwood scored 10. Sophomore Edin "Dino" Mehmedovic chipped in 10. As a team Lincoln Land did not shoot the ball well shooting their season low 30% from three.

Lincoln Land falls to 7-4. They head on the road to take on Prairie State in Chicago Heights on Saturday afternoon.
