Lincoln Land men's basketball team fell in a road Region matchup to the Warriors of Rend Lake, 71-52.
Â
Lincoln Land struggled from the field all night. The Loggers shot 7% (1/14) from three point arch and only 54% (7/13) from the free throw line. The Loggers held an early lead, but the Warriors took the lead with 10:30 to go in the first half and never relinquished it. Rend Lake used a large rebounding advantage to push themselves away from the Loggers. The Rend Lake Warriors dominated the boards as they pulled down 39 rebounds to Lincoln Land's 24. The Loggers struggled on both ends as they gave up the second most points they have in a game this year (Loss to North Central Missouri 74-54). Although the Loggers held an advantage in turnovers, they were unable to capitalize on those opportunities.
Â
The Loggers had two players in double digits led by freshman Edin "Dino" Mehmedovic who had 14 points. He was joined by sophomore Jake Stombaugh who had a season high 12. Sophomore Michael Cameron just missed double digits with 9 points and a team high 4 assists.
Â
Coach Chad Jones stated after the game, "When we play with intensity and work hard we are a tough team to beat. Unfortunately, tonight we did not give the necessary effort to win. We have to decide which team we want to be moving forward."Â
Â
LLCC falls to 11-6 on the season. They will play again Friday on the road against MacMurray's JV.
