LLCC Men's Basketball Team,have a victory to be thankful for going in to the Thanksgiving weekend after traveling to Kewanee, Illinois to defeat the Warriors of Black Hawk East 74-71.
The Loggers raced out to a fast start scoring 25 points in the first 10 minutes of the game. Along the way the only time Lincoln Land trailed all game was in the first minute when the Warriors went up 3-2.,Lincoln Land,held a game high 16 point lead at 35-19, but the Warriors were able to chip away and cut the deficit to 39-33 at half.

Lincoln Land was able to push their lead back out to 15 which proved just enough for the Loggers. Black Hawk East shot the ball very well from behind the arc and were able to cut the deficit all the way to 2 points with 1:18 left in the game. Sophomore Jake Stombaugh made two clutch free throws with :13.9 left and that proved enough. After a Warrior bucket sophomore Michael Cameron made his first free throw and intentionally missed the second one allowing the horn to go off in the fight for the rebound permitting the Loggers to walk away victorious.
Lincoln Land benefited from good games from multiple Loggers sophomore Corey Evak led all scorers with 17 points going 8 for 9 from the field along the way, sophomore Derek Smith kicked in a career high 15, and freshman Eddie Longmeyer reached double digits with 10 points, and pulled down a team high 7 rebounds. Sophomore Michael Cameron dished out 8 assists to go along with 9 points. Lincoln Land assisted on an outstanding 24 of 30 baskets.
Lincoln Land shot 57% from the field and out rebounded Black Hawk East 33-21. The Warriora kept it close shooting 46% from three.
"This was a 'make or break' game for us. We had not been playing well and this was a big game for us to get momentum going. This was a great team win and we finally played with heart and fire." Stated Coach Chad Jones after the victory.
Lincoln Land goes in to Thanksgiving break at 4-3 and will look to continue play next Tuesday at Illinois Valley College.
