LLCC Baseball Split Series with Parkland CC

The Loggers lost both games of the double header yesterday as they traveled to Parkland Community College in Champaign.  The Loggers lost game one 9-1 and the second game 8-4.   The Loggers were held to just 3 hits in game one.  The Cobras scored 9 runs on 9 hits in game one.  Ridge Ackerman went 5 innings and picked up the loss.  Ackerman is now 7-4 on the season. 

The Loggers were out hit 13-9 and they left 11 Loggers on base in game two.  Blake Gand (2-for-3) and Brandon Weller (2-for-3) were the only multiple hitters for the Loggers.  Derringer Huff (3-8 on the season) got the loss in game two.  Huff went 4 innings, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits.

The Loggers then hosted Parkland today at Lanphier Park and the outcome was much better.  LLCC won both games of the double header, 2-0 and 15-8.   LLCC scored two runs and that was enough for the Logger pitching staff.  Kyle Culli (5-3) started for the Loggers and went 4 solid innings.  Blake Welch worked 1.1 innings and Dan Reiser closed the game going 1.2 innings.  Together they held the Cobras to 8 hits and no runs.  Culli picked up the win and Dan Reiser recorded a save. 

The Loggers won game two 15-8 as they scored in every inning except the 2nd inning.  Brandon Weller led off the 5th inning with a triple and Max Rhodes drove in 2 RBI with a double.  Blake Gand and Michael Reavy doubled in the inning driving in a total of 3 RBI.   Brandon Weller had his second hit in the inning as the Loggers scored 7 runs on six hits.  Reavy was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI.  Blake Gand went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and Jerod Pellman and Brandon Weller collected two hits each in the win.  Clint Sestak started for the Loggers and went 3 innings.  Jordan McGinnis followed in relief and went 3 innings.  McGinnis picked up his first win on the year.  Logan Gebhards pitched the last inning as the Loggers held on to win.
