Lincoln Land Community College Softball win game one 11-2 against in rainy wet conditions. Spoon River scored 2 runs in the first inning but the Loggers answered by scoring 4 runs in the bottom half. Logger freshman pitcher Whitley Baker held the Trailblazer offensive attack the rest of the way out. Baker, now 4-3, had no earned runs and allowed 4 hits and 4 strike outs. Lauren Windisch was 2-for-4 and scored 1 run. Payton Billups had a triple with an RBI and Kayla Jacobs provided a 2 RBI double all in the first inning. Chantel Jennings who reached first on walk and HBP the first two times at the plate, drove in 2 runs in bottom of the 4
th inning a hard double to left. Sarah Worster followed with a 2 RBI hit to left.
Spoon River scored 3 runs in the first inning of game two as the rains continued to fall making field conditions worse. The Loggers came back and scored 1 in the first inning and 1 run in the 3
rd. In the 4
th inning, LLCC scored 4 more runs on 2 hits and 2 Trailblazer errors to take the lead 6-3. The game was called in the bottom of the 5
th due to wet conditions. Kayla Jacobs was 2-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBI. Emily Mordacq went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Morgan Smith picked up her 8
th win. Smith (8-3) allowed 3 runs and 4 hits with 7 strikeouts.
The Loggers finish the regular season 23-23 overall and 15-9 in the MWAC. Region XXIV starts Thursday, May 2
nd in Mattoon, Illinois (Roundhouse Complex).
