The Lady Loggers defeated Heartland 3-2 in game one of the double-header in Bloomington, Illinois. LLCC out hit the Hawks 9 hits to 5. Whitley Baker was the winning pitcher for the Loggers. Baker, now 2-1 on the year, went all 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. All of her runs were earned.
Sarah Worster tied the game 2-2 in the 5
th inning with a homerun to centerfield. Worster then drove in the winning run in the top of the 7
th inning on a base hit to center scoring Torey Sorensen who had reached 1
st on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second on an overthrow. Kayla Jacobs also hit a homerun in the 1
st inning, her second on the year.
The Loggers were winning game two 5-2 going into the bottom of the 4
th inning when the wheels came off. The Hawks scored 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Down 12-5 in the 7
th inning the Loggers fought back and scored two runs to finish the game 12-7.
Torey Sorensen was 2-for-3 and Kayla Jacobs went 2-for-4 in game two.
LLCC is now 10-10 on the year and 5-1 in the M-WAC.
