Loggers Win Season Opener 82-80

Freshman Kendall Davis led all scores with 24 points
The Lincoln Land Loggers kicked off their season playing in a shootout at Truman College in Chicago. The Loggers first game came against the Elgin Community College Spartans. The Spartans came out and made their first 7 shots from the floor to race out to a 20-5 lead. The Loggers chipped away and took a 7 point lead in to half. In the second half Lincoln Land extended the lead to double digits and held a 12 point lead with 6:00 left in the game. The Spartans charged back and got within 1 point with .08 left. Payton Dugan knocked in a free throw to put LLCC up 2 points with .06 left. A three point attempt by Elgin missed as time expired and the Loggers came out victorious 82-80.

After the game, Coach Chad Jones commented, "Anytime you start the season with a win it is good. We played pretty well, but still have improvements to make. Glad to start off 1-0 and happy we get to play again tomorrow."

Freshman Kendall Davis led all scorers with 24 points. Sophomores Garrett Williams and Marcus Graham chipped in 17. Freshman Corey Evak started his collegiate career with a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Spartans were led in scoring by Jonathan Leigeber with 21 points.
